Sunday one day

Just one image for you to drool over and keep you warm on this, my grading-filled December Sunday…

This is a 1965 Dutch poster designed by Dick Effers to celebrate Dutch Liberation Day on May 5th. The inscription reads “Make it a party.” {SOURCE}

Just another reason why I wish there were 36 or 48 hours in a day rather than just a measly 24: STAMPS!

Swedish sweetness

It’s finally snowing in Boston. It was 70 degrees here on Thursday. Very anti-Decemberish. So, I’m extremely excited to see the white fluff whisping around outside and even sticking on the ground. I’m about to go celebrate with a fresh mug of hot chocolate and mini-marshmallows. But first, I want to share some fun Swedish finds with you… they’ll keep you happy and warm this Saturday evening, whether yours is snowy or not. :)

Throwback Thursday: Boston matchbook covers

A couple of months ago, I posted some gorgeous images of vintage cover designs from Boston Public Library‘s rare books collection, made available on their beautifully extensive Flickr stream. Now it’s my pleasure to introduce you to some more great finds in the BPL’s Flickr collections: vintage Boston matchbook covers from their Matchcover Collection set:

I’ve lived in Boston for over seven years now, and I have yet to set foot in the BPL. What the hell am I waiting for?!

P.S.: For those of you in/around Boston, on the evening of the 17th, the BPL is presenting “The Great Poe Debate” (re: Edgar Allan Poe’s Boston connections). More info HERE.

Wordshop Wednesday: Reiter8

Check out reiter8‘s upcycled sailboat sails, crafted into beautifully vibrant bags, pillows, luggage tags, and more (you can even send in part of your own sail and have it upcycled all custom-like!):

See more of reiter8′s items HERE and follow them on Twitter HERE.

Mel’s ATCs

I was looking up some vintage Remington ads, and I randomly stumbled upon a Flickr set devoted to ATCs (Artist Trading Cards), which I had never heard of. In case you haven’t heard of them either: they’re basically mini collages, and there’s this whole community of artists who make and trade them. I have to admit, after looking at Mel’s Flickr set of her ATCs, I’m super tempted to try some of my own. I’ll keep you posted if that actually happens.

Some of my favorite images from Mel’s Flickr stream:

That last one is a clock, isn’t that cool?

ps) the Ohio references make this native Ohioan (me) very happy.
