I just discovered Sophie Blackall’s Missed Connections project via a Facebook posting from Chronicle Books, who recently published a children’s book, Ruby’s Wish, which Blackall illustrated. On her Missed Connections blog, Blackall provides uniquely imaginative visual translations of a selection of those addictive Craigslist postings in which someone loses contact with someone else for some reason or other. Sometimes endearing, occasionally heartbreaking, the messages Blackall transmits are always vividly touching. Plus, many include book references.

I’m not sure I could be any more in love with these vintage posters over at GrainEdit today (especially the Swiss one):

or some reason, I have only just now discovered how to make photo collages (via Picasa). I feel extremely slow. This whole time, I’ve felt like I’ve been uninvited to some exclusive photography party. Anyway, I’m excited. So, I just made a few collages of pages from my newly listed Holiday Paper Clips Journal on Etsy. I had way too much fun making this, and I’d love to have a ton of fun making more, so please order!

Lots of pages to keep track of gifts you’re giving, gifts you want to receive, gifts that totally elude you…whatever! And I make sure to include lots of usable gift tags, decorative pages, stickers, envelopes, and some vintage items too (including an addressed/stamped Christmas postcard from the 1910s! I have a handful of them, and they’re so fun to look at!).

Each holiday journal will also include one of my hand-sewn, hand-stamped “fa la la” button gift tags.

Disclaimer: I generally abhor tobacco and cigarettes as lethal weapons that have contributed to way too much illness among family and friends. That being said: come on, these vintage tobacco labels from Agence Eureka are pretty stellar.

Stupidly, I never considered that French playing cards wouldn’t have the J, Q, K, A categories. Umm, yeah. So, below, you’ll see that French playing cards have the following categories: V(alet), D(ame), R(oi), A(s). Unfortunately, I don’t have any A examples below.

I love these poster designs ALMOST as much as I love Glen and Marketa.
