Doodle-doodle-dee: sketchbook scribblings.

Some images from the Creative Journal that I started last year. My original goal was to take Paper Source’s slogan literally and “do something creative everyday” (I got the journal from Paper Source). Umm, it didn’t actually end up working. So, some days I’d fill a bunch of pages and hope that it made up for the days of extreme void.

What these pages primarily reveal is my obsession with decorative letters. And with some anny-mals. Some pages are merely exercises: trying to capture line and ornamentation design techniques, trying to capture lettering styles offered in the variety of calligraphy/hand type books that I own, etc.

Some additional samples of my lettering can be found in my Etsy shop, where I offer up my services for custom designs, lettering on family trees, and envelope addressing! Check them out HERE.

The Artwork of Louise Best

Louise Best is an artist, a diarist, a designer of books and all things awesome, and the creator of one of my favorite new-to-me blogs, called Loulou Loves Books. There, Louise/Loulou offers us snippets of life “from behind the hedge and beyond,” whether in postcard, journal, or typewritten form. No matter what the medium, the effect is charming and lovely. Thank you to @Typoretum for introducing me to Ms. Loulou!

I love the Griffin & Sabine quality of the postcards and the journals. I just love handmade collage-y mail in general. So lovely.

All images above have been graciously borrowed from Loulou’s BLOG and SHOP; however, I strongly strongly encourage you to visit her in the following realms:

Rock, Scissor, Paper (aka, AWESOME)

ROCK, SCISSOR, PAPER is a wonderful website where you can find woodgrain items such as journals, greeting cards, calendars, and gift tags. You can also find non-woodgrain items that are equally as awesome. Want proof? Well then, I will comply.

OWLS MAKE ME HAPPY:

(OK, so it was a little difficult for me to choose between all the ridiculously cute images… I may have gone a bit overboard.)

I wish my journal entries looked this cool…

Treats & Treasures is a site maintained by a fantastically creative Dutch woman named Marieke Berghuis Leewens, who now lives in Paris. She has an eye for the intrinsically elegant and quirky, and she glowingly succeeds at doing something I obsess over, which is to combine unlikely elements and grant them the appearance of genuine synchronicity. Unexpected artistic combinations and collages of ephemera and sketches make me beyond happy. Here are some reasons why:

Strikingly Sukie

I recently stumbled (happily) upon a ridiculously sweet product site called Sukie, Ltd.. Based in East Sussex, Great Britain, Sukie offers the kind of items that inevitably create a snowball effect of adorability (?! just go with it, please), leading me/you to an insufferable state of indecision and head-scratching delirium. So, ultimately, you just end up buying a bajillion dollars worth of stuff because it would be inhumane to have to decide between the plain notebook or the lined one, for example.

See for yourself. You’ll feel my pain, I swear.

See what I mean? Are you in pain? I bet you are. It’s just too hard to discriminate among all the awesomeness, right? Which is why there are a gazillion images above. I mean, how could I possibly choose?! Way too difficult. Ugh.

In any case, you should totally visit their website and check out all their products (yes, there are even more than what I posted above, I assure you): SUKIE, LTD.

Enjoy, please.
