New to my shop: Eight Nights of Hanukkah Paper Clips Journal!

As I’ve posted about previously, I created a Holiday Paper Clips Journal to sell in my Etsy shop. But… let’s call a spade a spade: it’s a Christmas journal. It’s chock-full of reds and greens and Christmas trees and vintage Christmas papers and… it’s a Christmas Journal. And so I started feeling lame and awful because I have a ton of Jewish friends who, clearly, wouldn’t really benefit much from Christmas-themed papers. Not that they don’t appreciate awesome papers, but… you know.

Sooooo… I was inspired to create a Hanukkah journal, which I’ve dubbed my Eight Nights of Hanukkah Paper Clips Journal. Rather than reds and greens, there are blues and silvers and gold menorahs and stars of David and historical pages about Hanukkah and Hanukkah activity pages for kids and stickers and usable gift tags. Oh, and did I mention that I’ve included 8 dividers with silver number stickers to signal the eight glorious days and nights of the Festival of Lights? Great for keeping track of ideas, memories, gifts, recipes… or to use the papers for scrapbooking and collage projects. The majority of the pages are sized to a convenient 4″x6″ and there’s a mix of vintage and modern pages (just like my Christmas journal).

I’m pretty proud of it. Know anyone who might like one? Click HERE for additional images and ordering details.

Holiday Items!

For some reason, I have only just now discovered how to make photo collages (via Picasa). I feel extremely slow. This whole time, I’ve felt like I’ve been uninvited to some exclusive photography party. Anyway, I’m excited. So, I just made a few collages of pages from my newly listed Holiday Paper Clips Journal on Etsy. I had way too much fun making this, and I’d love to have a ton of fun making more, so please order!

Lots of pages to keep track of gifts you’re giving, gifts you want to receive, gifts that totally elude you…whatever! And I make sure to include lots of usable gift tags, decorative pages, stickers, envelopes, and some vintage items too (including an addressed/stamped Christmas postcard from the 1910s! I have a handful of them, and they’re so fun to look at!).

Each holiday journal will also include one of my hand-sewn, hand-stamped “fa la la” button gift tags.

Check out my entire collection of holiday items and their descriptions in my Etsy shop HERE. And stay tuned for more! I’m planning on creating a couple kid-centric holiday listings soon…

Halloween surprise!

IMG_9614

I’ve been way over-tweeting and over-posting about my Halloween Paper Pack. But I can’t help it. It’s so cute! And the little Snoopy and Winnie the Pooh activities are so fun! And there are coloring pages! And vintage French and dictionary pages! And awesome decorative papers! Some are double-sided! And did I mention stickers and gift tags?!? And that it’s chock-full of goodies for kids and scrapbookers/collage artists alike? And that it’s now 50% OFF?!?!? It’s a measly $2.50!!!!! Well, as if that’s not rad enough… now I’m throwing in a surprise gift to whoever the lucky buyer is. *Note: Gift tags and red & white baker’s twine may or may not be involved.

Words & Eggs is now on Etsy!

I launched my Words & Eggs Etsy shop a few days ago — a bit humbly and bashfully, I might add, because I feel as though I don’t quite have the technological capabilities that many successful shops have. Nor do I have very great (nor numerous) examples/images of my work. But, I have to start somewhere, right? Right.

And guess what? I’ve officially made my first Etsy sale! Granted, it’s a friend of mine who placed the order, but still. It counts. It’s an official order. I got paid for one of my creations, and it feels fabulous. 🙂

Right now, my shop contains only a few samples of my custom family trees, my lettering, and my Paper Clips journals (vintage and new papers compiled in a custom little book). In the coming weeks, I plan to add more samples of my lettering, particularly some calligraphy projects that I’m working on right now. I also plan to add some paper packs that will contain 20 paper items, from gift tags to vintage maps to pages out of French literature to swoon-inducing decorative papers from the Paper Source.

I’m especially proud of my custom family trees, for which I go old-school and use a pair of scissors to cut out each individual leaf from your preferred selection of colored/patterned papers, and then paste them on a tree base that I also draw and cut by hand. And then I letter all the names and package it for you with lovely Japanese washi tape (courtesy of happytape.com!) and a gift tag. Family trees make excellent birthday and holiday gifts! And there are plenty of options we can brainstorm… from Christmas “advent calendar” types of trees (25 marked days!), to friendship trees (all your closest friends!), to baby announcement trees (your new baby stats!), to anniversary trees (a branch or leaf for each year!)…. TONS of options. My custom family trees are reasonably priced, starting at $60 for an 11″x14″ tree; pricing goes up depending on your preferred size.

Feel free to contact me if you have any interest and would like to discuss!

But for now, here’s a little sampling of my work, which is all completely constructed by hand. You can see more images in my Etsy shop and over at my “Handmade By Me” Flick set. More and better-quality images to come soon, hopefully!
